often described as being more German than Germany, Swakopmund is also called “das südlichste Ostseebad Deutschland” meaning in English “the most southern beach resort of Germany”. At the end of the day Swakopmund is Namibia’s most popular holiday destination, an oasis of coldness during the hot summer months for the metropolitans and it attracts surfers, anglers and beach-lovers from all over southern Africa. Is a location for retired people because of the air from the sea which is good if you have problems with breathing.
That is just one side of the metal, the other is more important for the younger generation, because Swakopmund has recently reinvented itself as Queenstown of Namibia, the Mecca for adrenaline junkies for a quick fix. You can choose to race through the sand sea in a quad bike, slide down the dunes on a greased-up snowboard, jump from a Cessna with a parachute strapped to your back, there’s no shortage of activities.
We hope you enjoy this side and leave us a feedback.
